Goldblatt v. Progressive

August 2024 - Goldblatt v. Progressive: First-party bad faith case where two insurance companies failed to pay the time-sensitive demand for policy limits. Progressive ultimately tendered its policy 6 months later, but we proceeded to trial anyway. The trial was broken down into sections: (1) voir dire for the entire case (both defense law firms involved), (2) case against at-fault driver - open, evidence, close, deliberations (no discussion of insurance) - resulted in a $7M verdict (Hawkins Melendrez defended), (3) case against Progressive - open, evidence, close, deliberations - resulted in $1M bad faith verdict (Keating Law Group defended), (4) punitive phase - resulted in $100M punitive verdict.
