Great cross is a combination of strategy and delivery. This presentation is focused on BOTH. You will see how to master the fundamental skills of cross:
- Looping
- Crossing in the Present tense
- Dropping tag lines; “right, correct, isn’t it true, true, etc.”
- Dropping filler words like; “and, um, so, ok, etc”
- Effectively using a flip chart to anchor your points
- Controlling your emotional state
- Speaking more slowly, pacing
- Breathing intentionally
- Bringing the jury in
- Using your hand to pace witness’s answers
First, these skills will be taught and demonstrated in the context of the Defense Medical Examiner cross. Next, *Matt Nakajima *will show how he has used this cross on a defense expert witnesses in his most recent *$10,000,000 *med mal verdict. Then, we will show you how they same pattern and structure can be repurposed to the HR Director cross in employment cases. Finally, we'll look at a dashcam video of a truck v motorcycle and do a demonstration of applying these skills to a fact witness.
