Kimball will talk about his path from working as an intelligence officer for the Army, to becoming a personal injury attorney who lost two of his first three trials, to becoming a trial lawyer that received a 7-figure, an 8-figure, and a 9-figure verdict within one month.
Kimball did not have a single jury verdict above $30,000 in more than six years of practice, before a $13.6M verdict in 2019. In the last three years, Kimball has had seven verdicts ranging from $1.6M to $101M. These cases range from car crashes to medical malpractice to insurance bad faith.
A few principles that Kimball believes in:
- Only take righteous cases to trial and never lie to a jury.
- Lessons from playground fights apply to combat in court. Distinguish the honorable from the bullies and liars, and treat them accordingly.
- Trial time matters. Practice is important, but it will not fully prepare you for the game.
- Use the injustice, disrespect, and indifference of opposing counsel and/or the insurance carrier to fuel and motivate you.
- Be you. Identify and master the techniques that work for you now.
- Grow. Learn and work to become the best person you can be. As you grow, your range of techniques and skills may grow too.
In addition to discussing lessons and strategies from trials already completed, Kimball will also autopsy a trial that is scheduled to end the week before TLU Las Vegas, regardless of the outcome.
