Unlike any other body of law, the trial lawyer must know the rules of evidence immediately. While the practitioner may have hours to research an issue of jurisdiction, knowing whether a piece of evidence is admissible must be decided in seconds. Not only because the judge decides the issue immediately, but the credibility of the trial lawyer in the jury’s eyes is affected by how the attorney navigates objections and admissibility issues.
In this lecture, attendees will learn a method to within seconds (1) spot and identify objectionable evidence, and (2) respond to objections to evidence that should be admitted. Attendees will leave with a comprehensive understanding of the evidence code and confidence to use the rules as weapons in their next trial.
